This incredibly windy but incredibly loving day was one of my favorite sunsets at Casa Marina Hotel. Kelsey & Blake picked a beautiful November day to get married beach side in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. With soft pastel pinks, navy’s and creamy whites they accented Casa Marina’s Historic Beauty and created an adorable wedding by the ocean. Check out their perfect sunset wedding below….Enjoy!

Just the most perfect of Saturday Mornings. Felt just like a fairy tale as I walked up to the cute St.Augustine Bungalow she and her bridesmaids were sipping champagne and getting ready at. Blue skies, birds chirping, and a lovely group of people to spend the day with.

2015. It may be in month 2 of 2016, but you still haunt me. If you own your own business you know the year doesn’t really end on December 31st. There are mountains of things to do in order to close out the year and it always seeps into the months following the champagne filled New Years Eve party you went to. In comes my blog post…my end of 2015 is officially here with the closing of my books and editing my last session which happened to be on the last day of the year. I put together a collage last year and photo timeline and people seemed to have a good laugh so I decided to give it another go around.
2015 was filled with 36 weddings, 55 photo booths and 50 portraits sessions all taking place in Florida, Colorado, Washington, Virginia, Ireland, and Scotland. We hit our 5th year in business and 160th wedding. And to be honest we had one of the best years since we started in 2010. Although…2016 is already proven to be a heavy contestant for “Best Year”, but I will leave that to next years post. For now, check out my photo captioned year below.

We began the year in cold Colorado bundled up with this guy…
Then we decided to rent a camper van…
And head to Ireland…

A lot of lovely couples got married…
But some people were over it…
And the Rain…
And the sunshine…
As well as the cake eaters…
The “Glowing Bride Award” was created …
And also the “Best Bridesmaid Award”…
Hands became a new photographic obsession…
And now it’s on to 2016…
I cannot put a solid number together for how many shoots I have done of these two. Between their wedding, Braden on his Dirtbike, Courtney surfing in her wedding dress, Family Sessions with their dogs, Christmas Day…we have just had a lot of fun memories and photos to prove it. So naturally, when I needed a couple to pose for a styled session, I asked the Burton’s. And although it began as a styled shoot with a few Colorado Vendors, it turned into a bit of a vow renewal. Even if that Vow Renewal included Courtney promising not to eat Braden’s French Fries and Braden vowing to order more so she can. Happy I met you two years ago because life is always a little more fun when you guys are around.

My first time photographing at Great Falls was with my wonderful sister and brother in law. I got the chance to photograph them and their goofy pups while visiting during fall of last year. Over the course of three hours, and with the help of lots of goofy faces and joking around, we created some of my favorite photos alongside this wonderful cliff we found while hiking. We even got to make a few awkward family photos with my sister and I and the dogs earlier in the day. Thanks for inching closer and closer to the edge of the cliff for this portrait….Always fun working with the Petersen’s!

This shoot easily makes my top three favorite shoots from 2015. This Colorful fall wedding reception was put together by some of the best vendors in the west elk mountains. We decided to incorporate vibrant pops of color to enhance the wooded scene we photographed in. We created a natural wood table with accents of vintage silverware and plates from the antique shops in Gunnison Valley. The bouquet and dress were adorned with hand dyed velvet and flowers from Paonia, a gorgeous town 1 hour from Crested Butte. Our cake was hand painted and designed to add a bit of glam to this Bohemian shoot. Wooden pieces were also hand burned and painted to accentuate the natural look of this stunning scene. With just a dash of snow the night before, and a secluded river only footsteps away, we could not have asked for a better fairytale setting than this. Take a look yourself….Enjoy!

Genuine Smiles, Loving Family, Funny Friends. Beyond all of the tangible details of your day, the three things listed first are the key to a magical and perfect wedding day. And it shines through in Kate & Bryan’s Wedding Day. Although I loved every single detail of their rainy beach wedding; there family and friends are what made this day such a great one to photographs.
Between the bridesmaids having an impromptu girl band session when we couldn’t photograph outside, the parents constant look of endearment towards Kate & Bryan, and the epic portrait in the wine glass that their very amusing friend held for me while enjoying a cocktail. It was just a perfect day. Thank you for a wonderful day filled with even more wonderful people!

Try to imagine a lot of eyeshadow, safety pins, several torn pieces of fabric and one eager 15 year old. No, I am not describing this wedding, I am describing my first photo shoot. Which happened to be of this lovely Bride, Hannah. We were great friends in high school and along with a few other girls who participated, we successfully designed, shot, and edited our own photos from my very first photo shoot.
Fast forward 13 years and we are in Ireland photographing her wedding. Wow. From the beginning of my career in the backyard of my parents house with a single lens camera, to photographing a grand wedding in another country. What a difference. I knew when the phone rang that spring evening over a year ago. That night Hannah called, I knew she was asking me to Ireland to photograph her wedding. I was elated and so overwhelmingly thankful that she thought of me.
Beyond the fact that they were a great couple to work with, they were so incredibly happy it was impossible to make a bad photo of them. They are absolutely perfect for each other. She calls him “Angel” and he may smirk a bit but he loves it. They were even more delightful to photograph. We must have walked a mile up to a tree I was adamant about photographing in front of. With the help of Jameson, Chardonnay, and their 10 year old cousin photographing beside me we made it in one piece and my first Irish Wedding was one of the most perfect weddings I have been to.
I can’t thank Hannah & Cj, as well as their welcoming family and friends for the best time and the best company that March Day in Waterford. Let me know when we can do it again sometime…I’ll bring the Camper Van and the droid! Enjoy!
