Nothing beats a nice walk in the woods with your pup and your love! Especially when you have it all to yourself and you manage to balance an engagement ring on your pups nose 🙂 As it starts to warm up here in CB I wanted to share my last snowy shoot of the season. best of 2017
2017, I feel like you were a blip in the radar because you went by so, so fast. But when laying out all I’ve done over the past 12 months, I’m amazed at all that has happened. Every year I think I need to push myself more, do more, create something new. But this year, although emotional and stressful. And at times, overwhelming. This year, I feel accomplished and satisfied and ready for more.
I began the year in Italy and after seeing some amazing places, I made the decision to add a location in my favorite tiny town, Crested Butte. I photographed 49 wedding, 36 engagements/portraits, and 59 photo booths. My busiest year by far brought on a second location, moving to Colorado, my thirtieth birthday, six very exciting awards for my photography and announcements that I am going to be an aunt for the first time x2!
Throughout the year we smiled, laughed, danced, photographed in the mountains, several beaches, under a waterfall and during a hurricane. Under the stars, the moon, at sunrise and sunset. During a snow storm, -1 degree weather and 101 degree weather. Traveled to Italy, Greece, Wyoming, South Dakota, Texas, Colorado, Maine, the Carolinas, and the Keys. Met tons of people and their adorable doggies. I had the opportunity to photograph firsts for a lot of couples. They opened up their homes, hearts and most intimate moments to me and I could not feel more grateful for their trust and love along the way.
It’s hard every year to narrow down a small group of images that are my “favorites”. Most of these are moments I couldn’t get out of my head throughout the year. Moments that made me feel secure in what I’m doing and moments that pushed me to become better at something I’ve been at for almost 8 years now. I can never seem to put together words that describe how amazing I think this life is. A life that I’ve built, but not alone. To everyone that has put their hand in helping me and my company, I am forever thankful. This has been another year where I wonder what would I do without photography. Where would I be? I’m hoping I’ll never have to face that. Because I truly love what I do and couldn’t imagine life without it. I hope your 2017 was prosperous and made you think about what in life makes you happy. And I hope in 2018, you go get that happiness. Cheers!

My good friend Courtney had a photo session planned with her mom when she came in town this past summer. When she first approached me she asked, “is it weird for a 30 year old to do a mother daughter session? I always see it with little kids.” It’s true, but just because you don’t see it doesn’t mean it can’t be done! And that is the true Courtney Burton way!
In honor of my mother’s birthday week and the fact that I would love to have a mother daughter session with my mom, I’ve posted these lovely photos. Courtney, Debbie, Birdie the dog and I took a hike around the wildflowers, mountains and river bends and documented their adorable and loving personalities.

An absolutely beautiful place for two incredibly beautiful people. This wedding will always have an important place in my heart because it is the first wedding I photographed after moving to Colorado full time. And I feel so lucky to have spent it with Braeden and Ryan.
You would think a wedding on a Monday would be pretty mellow, not with this crowd! On a sunny summer day in CB Braeden and Ryan got ready on the river with close friends. We had a mini exploration of Almont where we joked around and broke out in small dance moves :). They were married in a painting, with their sweet dogs by their side and an emotional family watching, they said I do with a backdrop of snow capped mountains and bright green summer foliage all around. After their tearful and beautiful vows we frolicked in the valley for a few photos and entered their reception in full dance with the bridal party. The laughter and happy tears made for such an emotionally gorgeous wedding.

Anniversary
I love a couple that drinks Champagne straight from the bottle, and one who makes you feel like family. I love a couple who kisses before you even ask them to because they just can’t help themselves. I love a couple that smiles all day even if it rained out there beach wedding.

I cannot express the happiness I had photographing and editing this day. You would think there would be a couple downers because this beach wedding was completely rained out, but oh no! So many, many smiles and laughs, and forehead kisses (my favorite). I just loved all the love these two had and am so excited I was apart of there day. Check out all the laughter and love below. Madalyn and Neal could have gotten married in jeans in an empty field with just their friends and family surrounding them and the day would have been just as gorgeous as it really was. I say that, because in the short time I have had the honor of getting to know Madalyn and Neal, I have realized they are the ones that light up the room, are the life of the party and make you feel special even if they don’t know you. We felt like family all day and we even each got a hug from 6 different people immediately when we walked in the door as they said “We are so happy you are here!”
They, along with everyone at their wedding, were an absolute joy to work with. I was even a little giddy editing the photos because I had such a great time! Anyways, check out one of the coolest couples I have had the absolutely wonderful pleasure of photographing below!

Kayla and Cory have that infectious, happy, beautiful kind of love. And their smiles show it. They were such a fun couple to photograph. We would have these beautiful moments with golden sunlight and then they would start making goofy faces and joking around with each other. I love how easy it was to tell how great of friends and perfect they are together.
We had an eventful day that included some of Cory’s homemade beer, home cooked food from Kayla’s family, songs sang at the reception by friends, an incredibly colorful sunset and an even more dramatic evening filled with lots of Kayla’s dad dancing and getting the party started. It was wonderful to spend the day with such loving and absolutely fun people. Check out all of their wedding below.

Marty and Jessica are two of the sweetest, most genuine people you could ever meet. They are both super talented, crafty, funny, incredibly caring and not to mention…really gorgeous together. Once they found each other, everyone agreed, they are perfect together. I was excited to have the chance to photograph their beautiful wedding this spring and we had quite a lot of fun on this sunny Florida day.
Beyond the grand exit on their boat at midnight, they had hilarious toasts, an award winning sunset, champagne and rum punches, sparkler exit, and Jessica’s dad even gave her a high five right after he gave her away. An Australian Wedding in Napa Valley California with the liveliest group of 7 people I have ever had the pleasure to enjoy a leap day with. A gorgeous destination wedding timed perfectly with the mustard seeds blooming to give us this beautiful yellow color right at sunset. They took a few sips of wine during their vows, said I do, and then the entire wedding (of 7 people) hoped in my giant suv and took an adventure around the Napa Valley vineyards.
