I was pretty excited about this shoot when Jenna first approached me. I mean who wouldn’t want to take off on a Monday, pop champagne on the beach and then proceed to jump in the ocean, fully clothed? And then follow it up with another bottle of champagne and an underwater shoot in one of your friends pools? Usually I am sending emails on Monday, so this was a welcomed change.
Jenna and I have been friends for several years. She has seen my style change and ideas go all over and still been so supportive of my work. When you meet Jenna, you can instantly tell she is one of those people that is always smiling and so incredibly kind to others she meets. She would joke that she was excited for me to photograph her engagement, even when she wasn’t engaged. It made me feel so special and excited to one day do that! Then in comes Josh. Sweet, loving Josh that seems to make Jenna smile even more. He was so open to my ideas as well. Especially for not knowing me too well. Things like, “Throw Jenna in the water fully clothed.” ; “Pop the champagne right over my shoulder.”; and “Hey, I am going to get a picture of your dog taking a #2 right in front of you guys kissing.” didn’t seem to phase him. 🙂 Overall it was one of the most fun engagement shoots I have ever done. I wish I could post photos from this wedding everyday. The ease and beauty in which Catherine and Ryan put on their South Dakota Mountain wedding was gorgeous. Even with rain almost the entire day of the wedding, we managed to adventure and photograph in some amazing spots.
I also love the adorable touches they had the day of. Their grandfather marrying them and their other grandfather, that had passed, recorded a message and blessing that they played before dinner. Catherine wore a two piece lace dress that her mother softly helped her button, while Ryan was dressed in a tux that his Father helped him straighten up. Only their family stood by their side as they were married. Catherine’s Sisters and Ryan’s Brother and Father. Where they were married, Ryan built a buffalo made of steel. And let’s just say he added an extra part to the “male” buffalo that was asked to be removed prior to the wedding day. That is only a testament to what a goofy and fun guy Ryan is. And how beautifully Catherine’s sweetness and wit compliments him.
Beyond that, Catherine and Ryan (and all of their friends and family) know how to party! I can easily say of all the couples I have photographed over 9 years, Catherine and Ryan were on the dance floor more than any other couple. And they looked damn good doing it. Twirling and dipping and at one point playing spin the bottle to who would dance next. At times they were dancing with cowboy hats on, whiskey in hand and a lit cigar in their mouth. And I am not just talking about Ryan, Catherine was doing it too. They’re just a bad ass, good looking couple. And I am pretty stoked to be the one to capture their outdoor, wooded, super fun wedding! Check out the amazingness of Catherine and Ryan below!

There is something to be said about the feeling of truly being your wonderful, goofy self with the one you love. And that’s is what I’ve always seen in Katie and Justin. They just seem so naturally in love and super easy going and fun. I met Katie for the first time in Ireland for a wedding I was photographing for a mutual friend. Lets just say, when I met her and her sense of humor, I was sort of in love. She is just such a fun person to be around and made me laugh non stop.
So of course I was pretty darn excited when I saw that she had messaged me about photographing her wedding next month. And after our engagement session filled with a gorgeous sunrise and tons of laughs, I was even more excited. You two are an extremely fun couple to be around and I can’t wait for next month!

I have know Brittany for about 5 years now. We worked together years ago when I was still in college at Stonewood in Jacksonville. I always remembered her as the fun, cute blonde she is, but never got to know her on a real personal level. So, when she called me a few months about her upcoming wedding, I was thrilled she wanted me to be apart of such an important day!

Our first meeting was at my favorite restaurant in St.Augustine called Caps on the Water. It was a beautiful Sunday to hang out right on the intercoastal and have a few drinks & catch up. Needless to say we had some fun at our first get together in sometime and I got to know Brittany & her Big Lug of a fiance Billy much better.

They are both two funny together, playing off each others jokes, poking fun of the things they think are cute about each other, laughing (and making me laugh). All in all it was great to meet a “so in love” couple. As well as meet the great family that comes along with this wedding.

Billy’s three kids came out to the engagement shoot and we had a double shoot in one day at the always gorgeous Cummer Museum & Gardens in Downtown Jacksonville.

Thanks for a fun day of meeting the great kids, getting kicked out of the cummer for staying to late & Brittany biting Billy a few times 🙂
